Home Assistant smart home setup, done properly
The open-source platform trusted by millions — installed, configured, and supported by the team behind 500+ Singapore smart homes. Local control, no subscriptions, any brand.
Why Home Assistant
Key advantages of a Home Assistant smart home
The platform we recommend for most Singapore homes — and install more than any other.
Local control — works even when the internet doesn't
Home Assistant runs on a small server inside your home. Lights, aircon, and automations keep working during an ISP outage, and every command responds instantly instead of round-tripping to a cloud in another country.
No monthly subscription
The platform is open-source. You own the system outright — no per-device fees, no features held hostage behind a plan, no service that dies when a vendor shuts down.
Any brand, one system
3,000+ integrations across Zigbee, Z-Wave, Matter, and WiFi. Aqara sensors, Tuya plugs, Daikin aircon, Sonos speakers — everything lands in one dashboard with automations that cut across brands.
Privacy by architecture
Your presence data, camera feeds, and daily routines stay on hardware you own. Nothing is uploaded for a vendor to mine — a real difference from cloud-first ecosystems.
Real energy savings via aircon control
Cooling is the biggest load in a Singapore home. Home Assistant gives real-time status of every AC unit plus automations — empty-room shut-off, window-open pause, setpoint discipline — that trim the largest item on your bill.
No lock-in, ever
Start with one room, expand for years. Hardware you buy anywhere can join the system, and if a device brand disappears, the rest of your home doesn't care.
What We Set Up
A complete installation, not a box of parts
From server to wall tablet — HomeAuto handles the whole build with local control as the default.
- Hub & network
We install and harden the Home Assistant server, Zigbee/Thread radios, and a stable mesh — the boring foundation that makes everything reliable.
- Device integration
Lighting, aircon (retrofit IR or native), curtains, locks, cameras, sensors — existing devices included wherever possible.
- Automations & dashboards
Scenes and schedules built around how your family actually lives, plus wall-tablet and phone dashboards anyone can use.
- Handover & support
We walk you through it, document the setup, and stay reachable — most tweaks are done remotely.

KNX
KNX smart home refurbishment
For homes and buildings already wired with KNX — or projects that demand wired-grade reliability.
Refurbish an existing KNX installation
Many Singapore GCBs, luxury condos, and older commercial builds have KNX behind the walls — often programmed a decade ago and never touched since. We re-programme scenes, replace failed actuators and keypads, and modernise the front end without ripping out the wiring.
Bridge KNX into Home Assistant
The best of both: keep KNX's wired reliability for lighting and blinds, add Home Assistant on top for modern dashboards, voice control, aircon automation, and integrations KNX alone can't reach.
Wired KNX is the standard for projects where uptime is non-negotiable. New full installations typically start from $20,000–$30,000; refurbishment is quoted per site.
Hospitality
Smart hotel & guest room automation
Automation that pays for itself in energy and staff time — without changing how guests behave.
Guest room automation
Key-card or occupancy-based control of lighting, aircon, and curtains — rooms welcome guests and power down when empty.
Energy management
Cooling is a hotel's biggest controllable cost. Occupancy-aware setpoints and corridor scheduling cut consumption without a single guest complaint.
Centralised control
Front desk and engineering see every room's status from one dashboard — faults surface before guests report them.
Deployed per property on KNX, Zigbee, or hybrid stacks — boutique hotels to serviced apartments.
FAQ
Home Assistant installation — common questions
What Singapore homeowners and property managers ask before booking a consultation.
Why choose Home Assistant over cloud smart home platforms?
Home Assistant runs locally in your home, so automations keep working during internet outages, commands respond instantly, and your data never leaves hardware you own. It has no monthly subscription and integrates 3,000+ device types across Zigbee, Z-Wave, Matter, and WiFi — so you're never locked into one brand.
Can HomeAuto refurbish an existing KNX installation?
Yes. We re-programme scenes, replace failed KNX actuators and keypads, and modernise the control front-end without replacing the wiring. We can also bridge KNX into Home Assistant to add modern dashboards, voice control, and aircon automation on top of the wired system.
Do you automate hotels and serviced apartments?
Yes. HomeAuto delivers guest room automation (occupancy-based lighting, aircon, and curtain control), property-wide energy management, and centralised dashboards for front desk and engineering — on KNX, Zigbee, or hybrid stacks.
How long does a Home Assistant installation take?
A typical HDB or condo install (hub, radios, and core devices) is done in a single day. Larger landed homes or full KNX bridging usually take 2–3 days, split across an initial install visit and a follow-up automation/dashboard session once you've lived with the system for a week.
What happens if a device or brand I use isn't supported yet?
Rare, but if it happens, Home Assistant's open integration model means community support usually arrives within weeks of a new device launching. In the interim, most devices with a local API, MQTT support, or a generic cloud integration can still be brought in — we assess this during the pre-install site visit.
